I’m one of those rare people who has always known what I wanted to be when I grew up. Hair and beauty trends  became an obsession for me at an early age. Before I had any idea what I was doing, I practiced on myself, my sisters, friends, and of course, unsuspecting barbies. Inevitably, I ended up in the hair industry, starting as a Receptionist at the age of 16. At 19 I started an apprenticeship program at a busy Northern Virginia Salon. This enabled me to  learn from and work with stylists and clients on the salon floor, while also earning hours toward my Cosmetology License. That experience changed my life.

A few years later I had an opportunity to train to specialize in color at a reputable DC Salon. This is where I truly found my passion. A decade later I still love what I do. Working with clients, making them look and feel their best, while developing more personal relationships with so many incredible humans is why I love working behind the chair.

Over the years my focus and passion has led me to become an educator. I received my Cosmetology instructors license in 2017. Over the past decade I helped to develop and run an in salon color education program, working with the next generation of stylists. Advanced education has always been and will be a part of my career. I  take several classes every year. I believe there’s always something to learn, and that passing down that knowledge will only lead to a stronger team, and a more successful career.

My vision when opening Blush was to create a beautiful space where Stylists and our Clients feel at home and inspired. This is is my dream, and I hope you love it as much as I do.

I started my professional career in 2004 but let me

be clear, I wasn’t doing hair. I was in management at a large telecommunications company. As I rose though the ranks, there was always a void—they didn’t care about me or the people I was servicing. I longed for a creative outlet that enriched the human experience with integrity.

In 2007 hair became the medium where I could merge my passions together. Creating color for your unique circumstances is where I thrive. My desire is to empower and arm you with knowledge in order to  achieve the hair of your dreams. Our hair is an accessory we wear everyday; if we are feeling good about our hair we are feeling good about ourselves

Jenny freed - colorist

Growing up I had always had an interest in the beauty industry. I started my hair coloring career in 2015 when a prestigious salon in DC offered me an apprenticeship. I spent 2 years focusing on my education learning from the best in the industry.

I love connecting with my clients and achieving your hair goals. Listening to your needs and helping you feel beautiful is so important to me.

I specialize in bright blondes and dimensional brunettes. My favorite technique is balayage, I love creating long lasting color that looks just as good when you come back months later. I enjoy working with all hair types and textures! Coloring hair is truly my passion and creative outlet. My goal is to help you feel your absolute best!

Anyone who really knows me, knows that I've always been passionate about doing hair, makeup and anything related to "improving" ones physical appearance. Too often the Beauty industry is perceived as superficial or surfaced by putting too much emphasis on appearance. Although that may be the case (sometimes), I truly believe that self care and investing in your physical appearance is important. Whether you're doing something as simple as makeup, cutting/coloring your hair, taking care of your skin, or manicuring your nails. I believe that this can completely change the trajectory of ones daily life by boosting confidence and shifting attitudes. I hope to offer something a little special to the beauty industry and I truly appreciate each individual that sits in my chair, my goals are to make them feel empowered and inspired by what they see when we are done with their service(s).

When I was young, I had many hobbies. Cutting and coloring hair was a bit of a casual interest, but not something I thought of as a career choice. I started an apprenticeship in a hair salon in Northern Virginia in 2010, and was surprised at how much I loved it immediately. Cutting hair and working as a hairstylist is something that comes very naturally to me, as well as something that feels exciting and dynamic. I find my style to be more collaborative, aiming to connect with my clients on their individual needs and then working together to create something effortless and perfect. The process of cutting and styling hair allows me to work creatively, technically, and meditatively in a way that not many things do. Having the opportunity to face obstacles with clients and get through them together motivates me to broaden my experience as a stylist, and to explore new ideas and styles. As I love variety, creating, and problem solving, my technical skill is not limited to one hair type, length, or style. I strive to be able to create something perfectly tailored to each guest, and evolve with their needs and personal expression over time.
